Working with the TRY/JPY series
Extreme carry on one leg, funding currency on the other — this cross compounds every Turkish lira caveat (redenomination in 2005, the 2018 and 2021 crises, chronic one-way depreciation) with the yen's unwind dynamics. The daily series only begins in 2010, well after the redenomination, so at least the unit break is outside the data. Backtests of "collect the interest differential" strategies on this pair are the canonical example of picking up pennies in front of a steamroller.
What's inside the TRY/JPY file
timestamp,open,high,low,close,volume
One row per candle; tick files instead carry timestamp, bid, ask on every quote. All timestamps are UTC. Worked examples and import steps are in the CSV & JSON format guide.
