Why I Built MarketData Hub

I'm Martin Buessler, and I built MarketData Hub. It started as my own problem: I spent years trying to find correct, long-range historical market data to build and backtest trading strategies — so I eventually built the site I wish I'd had, and put a real, registered business behind it.

The problem I kept hitting

For years I wanted to build and backtest my own trading strategies, and every attempt ran into the same wall: getting trustworthy historical price data was far harder than it should be. The good data sat behind expensive paid feeds, while the free sources were patchy, inconsistently formatted, missing history, or quietly wrong in ways that only surfaced after a backtest had already lied to me. I lost more time cleaning and second-guessing data than I ever spent testing ideas.

What I finally found

After a long search I landed on the deep, tick-level historical archive published by Dukascopy Bank SA, retrieved through the excellent open-source dukascopy-node project. It was the accurate, long-range data I'd been looking for all along — but pulling exactly the instrument, timeframe and date range you need still meant scripting and wrangling. So I built MarketData Hub to handle that part for everyone: a clean interface on top of a reliable source, so nobody else has to repeat the years-long search I went through.

Why I put my name on it

Financial data is only useful if you can trust where it came from — and you should be able to trust whoever is serving it to you. MarketData Hub isn't an anonymous data reseller: it's operated by a real, registered Austrian business, and my name and trade registration are published below so you can verify them yourself. If the data or the service ever falls short, there's a real, accountable person behind it.

Registered business

MarketData Hub is operated as a registered sole-proprietor trade (Einzelunternehmen) in Austria. The business is listed in GISA — the Gewerbeinformationssystem Austria (the Austrian Trades Information System, the official public trade register):

What you get

The result is the site this page sits on: free to browse and preview, with historical OHLC and tick data for 265+ instruments across forex, crypto, indices, commodities, bonds, ETFs and shares. Read more about what the project is, how the data is sourced and built, and the terms & license — or just open the downloader and grab the data I wish I'd had years ago.
